The Judge - Oh, the Feels!

So, K and I went to see the Judge in a cinema (if you're tricky enough, you can stream it with good quality... but it's so good, maybe you should pay to see it?). I had of course high expectations, as it is RDJr and I do love the man. K thought it would be something else, but she was pleasantly surprised.

So, to not spoil a thing, I will simply give you my general impression of the movie:
IT WAS BLOODY AMAZING!

In the beginning it was very cliché with the my-father-is-dead-to-me-because-he-wasn't-fair-in-how-he-raised-me sort of way. And it continued on the same line as most movies with that attached to them: reconciliation. But it doesn't matter that you could smell the ending from the beginning. It was still so damn good!

The back and forth between the two Roberts was witty and silly and amusing and sad and it made me want to cry. Both from happiness and sadness.

The ending was both conclusive and open. There were characters whose future was very unclear and I want to know what happens to them. It means I care about them and this is only possible if You love something. I'm so glad I got to see it.

As for award deserving performances, if RDJr doesn't get another Oscar nod from this, Rober Duvall needs to win. He played his frail character with such conviction, I wanted to help him.

This movie deserves a big thumbs up! I give it (based on my just created scale) a 8.7/10 (I took some down from ten, because of the told-before storyline and because the day Hollywood makes a movie worth a ten, they can close the shop. Humans work towards something as long as it is possible to better themselves or the world around us.)

'til next time, y'all!
R.
